چکیده

The Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) constitute an emerging and very promising area of research that historically have been falling within two main theoretical immunological schools of thought: those based on Negative selection (NS) or those inspired on Danger theory (DT). Despite their inherent strengths and well known promising results, both deployed AIS have documented difficulties on dealing with gradual dynamic changes of self behavior through time. In this paper we propose and describe the development of an AIS framework for anomaly detection based on a rather different immunological theory, which is the Grossman’s Tunable Activation Thresholds (TAT) theory for the behaviour of T-cells. The overall framework has been tested with artificially generated stochastic data sets based on a real world phenomena and the results thus obtained have been compared with a non-evolutionary Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier, thus demonstrating TAT’s performance and competitiveness for anomaly detection.

Activation-threshold tuning in an affinity model for the T-cell repertoire.

Naive T cells respond to peptides from foreign proteins and remain tolerant to self peptides from endogenous proteins. It has been suggested that self tolerance comes about by a 'tuning' mechanism, i.e. by increasing the T-cell activation threshold upon interaction with self peptides. Here, we explore how such an adaptive mechanism of T-cell tolerance would influence the reactivity of the T-cel...

Introducing Dendritic Cells as a Novel Immune-Inspired Algorithm for Anomaly Detection

Dendritic cells are antigen presenting cells that provide a vital link between the innate and adaptive immune system. Research into this family of cells has revealed that they perform the role of coordinating T-cell based immune responses, both reactive and for generating tolerance. We have derived an algorithm based on the functionality of these cells, and have used the signals and differentia...

A Cooperative Negative Selection Algorithm for Anomaly Detection

Artificial Immune System (AIS) is a convoluted and complex arrangement derived from biological immune system (BIS). It possesses the abilities of self-adapting, self-learning and self-configuration. It has the basic function to distinguish self and non-self. Negative Selection Algorithm (NSA) over the years has shown to be competent for anomaly detection problems. In the past decade internet ha...
